News

Spencer Turnbull made his last start of the season tonight, pickup up a loss in a 3-2 game. Turnbull finishes the season 4-4, with a 3.97 ERA, and was by far Detroit’s most dependable starter (other Detroit starters have a combined ERA above 7.00). Turnbull finished the season facing 242 batters, and only gave up 2 home runs.

Henry Ruggs, who was already hampered with a knee injury from Week 1, added a hamstring injury to his woes this week. Raiders ruled him out for Week 3. Also, Dre Kirkpatrick popped up on the injury report with a neck issue, and is questionable.

Back in 1989, Ennis Whatley, who at the time was in between NBA teams, signed with San Miguel in the Philippines to replace an injured Keith Smart as the team’s import player. San Miguel had already won the first two national tournaments, and were trying to become just the 3rd team to win all three national tournament titles in a single season. Whatley would lead them to the title, scoring over 50 points twice in the finals. He appeared on The Link podcast to relive that title run.

Tua Tagovailoa was featured in the GQ series “My First Million.” He talks about how he plans to save all of his contract money and only spend his endorsement money. He also talks about what big ticket purchases he’s made.

Richard Hendrix, who’s gearing up for another season in Japan, is interviewed on the Standing Room Only Radio podcast.

Former Alabama soccer player Abbie Boswell released a 5-song EP today. Her website has links where you can find it on iTunes and Spotify.
