Henry Ruggs caught a game-winning 46-yard touchdown with 5 seconds left in the game to lift Las Vegas to a 31-28 win over the winless New York Jets. The 3rd and 10 play was set up by a bizarre defensive call, where the Jets went Cover Zero and blitzed the quarterback, rather than dropping defenders back to prevent a deep pass. Ruggs had single coverage with an undrafted free agent who had no safety help, and beat him deep. Ruggs finished the day with 3 catches for 84 yards.
Tua Tagovailoa, a game-time decision with a left thumb injury, started and led Miami to a 19-7 win over Cincinnati. Tagovailoa threw for a season-high 296 yards and a touchdown, and became just the second quarterback in the Super Bowl era to start his career with a touchdown pass and no interceptions in each of his first five starts.
Jalen Hurts replaced Carson Wentz in the second half today, and this time it was for more than a couple of plays. Hurts earned his most playing time to date, went 5-for-12 for 109 yards, and threw his first career touchdown pass.
Maruschka Waldus and her Vålerenga squad closed out the Toppserien (Norway) season with a 4-0 win over Arna-Bjørnar, and won its first-ever Toppserien championship.
Kristen Gillman finished T-8th at the Volunteers of America Classic, marking her best finish on the LPGA Tour this season. It’s her fifth career Top 10 finish on the LPGA Tour.
