Spencer Turnbull threw the first no-hitter ever by an Alabama pitcher in major league baseball, blanking the Mariners 5-0 on 9 strikeouts while giving up just 2 walks. It’s Turnbull’s first MLB complete game, and he threw a career high 17 pitches. We’ll have more coverage tomorrow.

Tommy Hunter pitched two more scoreless innings for the Mets tonight, striking out the side in one of the innings. But all he’s going to want to talk about his getting his first big league hit! Hunter debuted in 2008, but only had 4 MLB at bats before tonight. He’d single, then score from first on a double.

Chandler Taylor delivered a game-tying 2-run homer in the bottom of the eighth for Corpus Christi tonight. The Hooks would eventually win in 10.

Patrick Surtain II signed his 4-year rookie contract today. Total value of contract is $20,962,802, which includes a $12.61 million signing bonus.
