Daily Recap – July 10, 2021

News

After a series of transactions left the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp short-handed, the Miami Marlins organization promoted Jake Walters to the Triple-A East afflilate today. Walters was pressed into duty immediately, entering the game in relief in the 3rd inning, and pitching hitless ball until surrendering a couple of hits in the 8th. Walters finished with 6 Ks in 5.0 innings of work, and didn’t give up a run.

With Spokane Shock starter Charlie McCullum missing tonight’s game with an injury, Blake Sims made his Indoor Football League debut. Sims rushed for three touchdowns and threw for one more, as Spokane defeated Sioux Falls 46-35. Sims’ post-game interview is shown below.

Bo Scarbrough hosted his first-ever football camp at Central High School in Tuscaloosa today. Here are some highlights from the camp:

AJ McCarron also hosted a camp today, at Mobile Christian School. Today’s camp was the 6th annual installment of McCarron’s camp, which is sponsored by USA Football.

Jimmy Nelson has landed on the 10-Day Injured List with a left lumbar strain, retroactive to July 7.

The Big3 League opened its season today, with Alonzo Gee playing for Bivouac. Gee finished with 6 points, 5 rebounds, and a steal in a part-time role.

Kenyan Drake was interviewed on Sirius XM this week, and expressed excitement for his planned role in the Raiders offense, as well as the overall offense in general.

Matt Hughes (-6) has a share of the lead going into the final round of the Georgia Amateur Championship.

Justin Thomas making a shot that goes viral isn’t unusual, but in this case it was because he topped a 3-wood shot, which is something all of us can relate to.

Transactions

  • Jimmy Nelson – placed on the 10-Day Injured List by the Los Angeles Dodgers with a left lumbar strain.
  • Jake Walters – assigned from the Beloit Snappers to the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp of the Triple-A East League.
