News

Jake Walters announced today that he’ll undergo elbow surgery and will miss the 2022 season. Walters’ surgery is scheduled for next week.

One day after reverting to the Chicago Bears’ practice squad, Damion Square was signed by the Las Vegas Raiders today. Square signed with Cleveland as a free agent in the off-season, but was released in camp. He spent a few days on New Orleans’ roster, but was cut before even practicing with the team. Square eventually was signed to the Chicago practice squad last week, and was elevated to the active roster for Week 1. He played 5 snaps for the Bears Sunday night.

The signings of Dre Kirkpatrick and Carson Tinker, which were reported yesterday, were made official today.

Jerry Jeudy and Raekwon Davis, both of whom were injured in games on Sunday, were placed on Injured Reserve today. They will be out for a minimum of three weeks.

Mac Jones and DeVonta Smith are both nominated for the Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Week for Week 1.

Alexa Guarachi (#12) and Erin Routliffe (#78) both have new career high doubles rankings in the latest WTA rankings.

Henry Ruggs will get his own Adidas shoe as part of the brand’s Superstars series.

Ralph Stokes, who was part of Alabama Football’s 2nd recruiting class to include Black players, has released his memoir, titled One of the First.

Community Outreach

Landon Collins was recognized by the NFLPA for various recent efforts, including a backpack giveaway for 300 students at a Washington area school, a literacy program for local 5th graders, a shopping spree for 10 local athletes, and created a reading corner with 100 books at Emery Heights Community Center.
