Mac Jones threw for a career-best 307 yards and 2 touchdowns to lead New England to a 54-13 win over the New York Jets. Jones became the fourth rookie quarterback all-time with at least 225 passing yards and a touchdown pass in five consecutive games. Also, Jones was 11-of-11 for 137 yards on throws between the painted numbers, including both of his touchdown passes. That is the most such attempts without an incompletion by any quarterback in the last two seasons.
Damien Harris had his second consecutive 100 yard rushing game, totaling 106 yards (with 2 touchdowns) in the Patriot win, but his fastest run may have been his sideline sprint to celebrate his backfield mate’s first career touchdown. Harris gained almost all of his yardage between the tackles.
Tua Tagovailoa threw a career-high 4 touchdowns today, becoming just the fifth Alabama quarterback in NFL history to have a 4-or-more-touchdown passing game. The others are Joe Namath (7), Ken Stabler (7), Bart Starr (2), and Richard Todd (2). Tagovailoa was particularly efficient on play action passes and quick passes.
One week after setting the Alabama NFL record for touchdowns scored in a single week, Alabama players have done the same with touchdown passes. Four former Alabama players threw 9 touchdown passes (Tua Tagovailoa x4, Mac Jones x2, Jalen Hurts x2, and Derrick Henry) today. That’s an Alabama record for both number of TD passes in a single week by Alabama alums, as well as the number of players throwing TD passes.
Polly Mack finished T-13th at Stage 2 of LPGA Tour Qualifying to advance to the Q Series, which begins in late November. Mack is now guaranteed a spot on the Symetra Tour once she graduates in the spring, but could opt to participate in the Q Series to attempt to qualify for the LPGA Tour, or secure higher priority on the Symetra Tour.
