In Memoriam
Mike Pitts, All-American at Alabama, 1983 first-round draft pick of the Atlanta Falcons, and a veteran of 12 NFL seasons, passed away late last week at the age of 61. Pitts played at Alabama from 1980-1982, earning consensus All American honors in 1982. He was drafted 16th overall by the Atlanta Falcons in the 1983 draft and was named to the 1983 All-Rookie Team. He later was traded to Philadelphia after a hold-out, and became an integral part of Buddy Ryan’s much-vaunted defensive line. Pitts would play 169 games over the course of 12 years with the Falcons, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the New England Patriots.

News
The Cleveland Cavaliers announced today that an MRI revealed that Collin Sexton suffered a torn meniscus in last night’s game in New York. Timetable for Sexton’s return will be determined after further testing. It’s a big blow to the Cavs, who are off to a 7-4 start this season. Meanwhile, reports are that the Cavs are still interested in signing Sexton to a long-term extension.
Xavier McKinney started Week 9 thinking he might miss yesterday’s game due to a COVID test (which turned out to be a false positive). Turns out the Giants needed every bit of his two interceptions to beat the Raiders yesterday.
Tom Lovelady had a tough closing round at the Korn Ferry Tour qualifying tournament, shooting a 74 and finishing T51. Lovelady will now have conditional status on the tour with no guaranteed starts, but can improve his status with strong finishes prior to the first re-shuffle.
