Daily Recap – January 30, 2022

News

Damion Square made a bit of NFL history today when he became the first player to appear for two different teams in a single post-season. Square played for the Las Vegas Raiders in its Wild Card Round loss against the Cincinnati Bengals two weeks ago. After his practice squad contract expired the at the beginning of this past week, Squared was signed by the Bengals to its practice squad. He was elevated to the gameday roster yesterday, and appeared in today’s game. And now he’s going to the Super Bowl.

Since Cincinnati (Jonah Williams, Damion Square) and Los Angeles (A’Shawn Robinson, Terrell Lewis) are squaring off in Super Bowl LVI, an Alabama player is guaranteed to win a Super Bowl ring for the 10th consecutive season. The last team to win a Super Bowl without an Alabama player was the 2011 New York Giants, who defeated New England in Super Bowl XLVI.

Previously listed as an alternate, Mac Jones has officially been added to the Pro Bowl roster. Jones replaces Joe Burrow, who’ll now be unavailable. Najee Harris has also been added to the roster, replacing Joe Mixon.

While the NFL has not formally released its list of NFL Combine invitees, Slade Bolden, Josh Jobe, and LaBryan Ray have announced that they have received combine invitations.

Media Appearances

Kenny Bell appears on the latest episode of Rodney Cooper’s Locker Room Talk with Coop, which premiered today.
