Daily Recap – April 24, 2022

News

Herb Jones did it again, making one jaw-dropping defensive play in the second half tonight to take over social media timelines and help New Orleans to a series-evening 118-103 win over Phoenix in Game 4 of their playoff series. Jones’ 2 steals and 3 blocks don’t adequately describe the impact that he had defensively.

Davis Shore’s closing round 64 at JHSF Aberto do Brasil gave him him a Top 5 finish, and his best-ever finish on a PGA sponsored tour.

Davis Riley and partner Will Zalatoris moved up 14 spots today to grab a Top 5 finish at the Zurich Classic in New Orleans. It marks Riley’s 2nd Top 5 finish in the past six weeks.

Here’s a round-up of some track and field performances from the weekend. At the Crimson Tide Invitational, several Alabama alums put up strong performances. Daniel Haugh won the Men’s Hammer Throw and Esther Gitahi took the Women’s 1500 Meter on Friday. On Saturday, Ruebin Walters and Robert Dunning finished 1-2 in the Men’s 110 Meter Hurdles, and Portious Warren took 2nd in the Women’s Shot Put. Elsewhere, Remona Burchell won the Women’s 100 Meter at the Velocity Fest in Jamaica in her best time in 5 years. Tamara Clark finished second in the Women’s 200 Meter at the Michael Johnson Invitational, and Quanesha Burks was second in the Women’s Long Jump at the LSU Alumni Gold meet.

Community Outreach

Najee Harris is donating $44,000 worth of jerseys and sports equipment to Pittsburgh area public schools as part of a partnership with Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes’ Mission Tiger.
