News

Second-seeded Saketh Myneni and partner Yuki Bhambri took out top seeds and local favorites Borges / Cabral in three sets to win the Porto Open in Portugal. The Challenger circuit event was Myneni’s 6th doubles title of 2022 (4th that was a Challenger event), with five of those title came with Bhambri as a partner. Myneni now has 30 doubles titles for his career (18 Futures Tour and 12 Challenger Tour). Six titles in a year equal the most Myneni has won in a single year, matching 2012 and 2014. Four Challenger wins in a year are the most that Myneni has won in a year.

Prior to its first Las Vegas Summer League game today, the Boston Celtics announced that it had signed J.D. Davison to a two-way contract (Davison will split time with the NBA Celtics and the G League’s Maine Celtics). Davison flashed signs of his potential in the Celts’ game later in the afternoon.

Blake Sims, replaced as starting quarterback of the Frisco Fighters mid-season and playing wide receiver, running back, and kick returner instead, took over as quarterback in the second half of Frisco’s game tonight against Quad City. Sims ran for 3 touchdowns, threw for 2 others, and led 6 scoring drives to lead Frisco to a come-from-behind double overtime win. Frisco, which has already clenched a playoff berth, has now won 8 straight games.
