Detroit Tigers manager A.J. Hinch announced to reporters that Spencer Turnbull would not return to pitch during the 2022 season. Turnbull had elbow surgery one year ago this week, and an aggressive timetable could have seen him make a couple of starts in September, but Hinch said that it wasn’t worth pushing it for Turnbull or the team.

Michael Thompson and Lee Hodges, both looking to solidify Top 125 finishes for the season, both turned in -6, 66 scorecards in the opening round of the Rocket Mortgage Classic. They’re currently T-3rd.

Haylie McCleney shares some advice to young softball players; specifically, take some time off during the summer.

David Robertson being traded by Tuesday’s trade deadline is a foregone conclusion. Robertson before Chicago’s game today: “I’ve had a great time. Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel invited Ric Flair to Titans’ camp today. Flair told reporters that his favorite NFL player is Derrick Henry, but that he didn’t like Henry when he was at Alabama.

Dylan Ray has officially signed a professional contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
