For the second straight game, Jalen Hurts posted gaudy first-half numbers to knock out an opponent. Hurts threw for 279 first-half yards and 3 touchdowns, as Philadelphia got out to a 24-0 lead. Hurts is the 1st player in NFL history to average 300 passing yards and 50 rushing yards per game through the first three games of a season. Hurts is also just the third player since 2000 with 250 combined passing yards and rushing yards in the first half of three straight games.
In the same game, DeVonta Smith had career highs of 8 receptions and 169 receiving yards, along with a touchdown. Smith’s acrobatic catches on a couple of occasions helped put the Washington Commanders away.
Tua Tagovailoa led Miami to another 4th quarter come-from-behind win today, but the game may be more noteworthy for what happened in the 2nd quarter. Tagovailoa left the game late in the second quarter with what appeared to be a head injury, but returned to action at the beginning of the third quarter. Tagovailoa reportedly passed concussion tests during halftime, and was wobbly due to a back injury suffered earlier in the game. The NFL Players Association has already announced that it wants a review initiated to make ure concussion protocols were followed.
On the Patriots’ last offensive play of the day, Mac Jones suffered a lower leg injury and had to be helped to the locker room. Jones is believed to have suffered a high ankle sprain, and will have an MRI tomorrow.
Justin Thomas closed out Presidents Club play with a loss in singles play, but finished 4-1-0, as the United States retained the Cup with a 17.5-12.5 win over the International squad.
Kristen Gillman and Jiwon Jeon both hoped for better, but still came away with matching Top 3 finishes at the El Dorado Shootout on the Epson Tour. Gillman’s T-3rd is her best finish of the year on either the Epson Tour or LPGA Tour. For Jiwon Jeon, it’s her second Top 5 finish since returning to the Epson Tour in June.
Derrick Henry returned to form today, with 85 rushing yards and 66 receiving yards in Tennessee’s first win of the season.
Eddie Jackson served as honorary captain for the Chicago Bears today, and responded with 8 tackles, a forced fumble, and an interception in the Bears’ win.
Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer reports that Julio Jones is dealing with a partially torn posterior cruciate ligament. Jones was inactive for a second straight week.
