The San Antonio Spurs organization made the shocking announcement this evening that it is waiving Joshua Primo. The team issued a statement saying “It is our hope that, in the long run, this decision will serve the best interest of both the organization and Joshua.” Primo, 19, was the Spurs’ 1st round selection in the 2021 draft, and just had his third year option picked up, so this doesn’t seem like a basketball move. NBA insiders Adrian Wojnarowski and Alex Kennedy were among those who had no information on the move.
UPDATE: Primo has issued the following statement to ESPN:

The Astros would go on to win the World Series, and the win was tainted a couple of years later when allegations of elaborate sign-stealing came to light.
