Daily Recap – November 27, 2022

News

In a season where Josh Jacobs is routinely setting new career rushing highs seemingly on a weekly basis, he went to historic levels this week. Jacobs ran for 229 yards, added 74 receiving yards, and scored on an 86 yard touchdown run in overtime to give Las Vegas a 40-34 win over Seattle. Jacobs, who was questionable to play with a calf injury, was almost taken out of the game when he re-aggravated the injury in the 4th quarter.

Jacobs’ 303 yards from scrimmage are the 8th most in NFL history, and surpasses Julio Jones’ 300 yards from scrimmage for Atlanta in 2016 as the most ever by an Alabama alumnus. Jacobs is the first player since 1950 to have 220+ yards rushing and 70+ yards receiving in a single game. Jacobs is also the 4th player in the Super Bowl era with 300 scrimmage yards and 2 TD in the same game, and the first since Adrian Peterson set the single-game rushing yards record in 2007.

Jacobs set career highs in the following categories:

  • Rushing yards (229)
  • Receiving yards (74)
  • Scrimmage yards (303)
  • Rushing attempts (33)
  • Receptions (6)
  • Total touches (39)

Brian Robinson rushed for a career-best 105 yards, and set the tone early with a 14 yard receiving touchdown on which he ran over a defender, to lead Washington to a win over Atlanta for its 5th win in 6 games.

In the same game, Daron Payne’s deflected pass with Atlanta inside the 5 yard line and less than a minute left led to a game-saving interception to seal Washington’s win.

Jalen Hurts rushed for a career-high 157 yards and threw for 2 touchdowns, as Philadelphia defeated Green Bay 40-33. The rushing yards was also a Philadelphia record for rushing yards from a quarterback in a single game. Hurts is the first player since at least 1950 with 150+ rushing yards, 150+ passing yards, and 2+ touchdown passes in a single game.

There were an abundance of pieces today on how Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel instilled confidence in Tua Tagovailoa. Meanwhile, Tagovailoa set the Dolphin record for most consecutive pass attempts without an interception.

Jaylen Waddle set a Miami Dolphins franchise record for most receiving yards in first two years of a career. Waddle now has 1,978 receiving yards in his first 27 games.
