Derrick Henry was named today as the Tennessee Titans’ nominee for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award. It’s the second straight year that Henry has been the team’s nominee. Henry was recognized for his work with giving girls from underserved communities access to STEM education, providing backpacks and school supplies, and lunches to schools, and providing uniforms and football equipment to Yulee High School in Florida (his high school alma mater), among other community activities.

Alana Gonçalo Da Silva has re-signed with Sampaio Basquete in Brazil for the 2023 season. She’ll join the team when her current season with Melilla La Salle in Spain concludes in the spring. Alana won a championship with Sampaio during the 2022 season.

Brian Robinson is once again nominated for Pepsi Rookie of the Week.

Tommy Hunter has re-signed with the New York Mets on a minor league deal. Hunter will presumably get a non-roster invitation to spring training.

Lance Taylor is rumored to be one of the front-runners for the head coaching vacancy at Western Michigan University. Taylor just completed his first season as offensive coordinator at Louisville.

Sylvester Croom was officially inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame at a celebration in Las Vegas tonight.

Kira Lewis and John Petty combined for 8 three-point goals and 36 points in Birmingham’s 138-135 win tonight.
