Daily Recap – December 19, 2022

Multiple outlets are reporting that Jalen Hurts suffered a sprained throwing shoulder against the Chicago Bears yesterday, and could miss the next two games. Hurts suffered the injury with 1:13 left in the third quarter, and did not leave the game. Hurts was 7-for-10 passing after the injury for 110 yards (including a 68 yard completion to A.J. Brown), and also ran the ball 5 times for 13 yards and a touchdown afterwards.

Jacksonville Jaguars coach Doug Pederson announced today that Cam Robinson suffered a torn meniscus in Sunday’s game. The injury will sideline Robinson for the remainder of the season. It’s a tough blow for the Jaguars, who are suddenly just one game back in the AFC South division.

The final count is in, and Tua Tagovailoa is the overall leader in fan voting for this year’s Pro Bowl. In additiona to Tagovailoa (AFC QB), other Alabama alumni leading the voting at their positions include Jalen Hurts (NFC QB), Derrick Henry (AFC RB), Quinnen Williams (AFC DT), and Minkah Fitzpatrick (AFC FS). Pro Bowl selections are determined by combined votes of fans, players, and coaches, with the ultimate Pro Bowl rosters announced Wednesday night.

The New England Patriots’ performance yesterday – and particularly the play-calling – might indicate eroding confidence in Mac Jones.

In a card announced today, Eryk Anders will next fight Joe Pyfer at “FuryPro6” in Philadelphia on December 30. The event is sponsored by the Fury Professional Grappling series. It will mark the second time this year that Anders has fought a grapping match in between UFC MMA fights.

Krystal Rivers has resigned as team captain of Allianz MTV Stuttgart in order to focus on health and improving her game. Rivers, who has missed some games recently with an undisclosed illness, said “I’ve gotten to a point where my health has made me reconsider my role on the team. I can no longer both fulfill my duties as captain and maintain the energy needed to play at the highest level. In order to be able to better serve the team, the fans and the club, I will step down from this post and let the team be led by someone who can muster the extra energy needed for this task.”
