News

The Pro Football Writes of America announced its annual All-NFL, All-NFC, and All-AFC teams today. Josh Jacobs, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Patrick Surtain II, and Quinnen Williams were recognized on both the All-NFL and All-AFC teams. Jalen Hurts and Daron Payne were named to the All-NFC team. Fitzpatrick is a three-time PFWA selection, while the others are all first-time selections.

DeMeco Ryans, who was scheduled to interview remotely for four of the five NFL head coach openings last week, canceled interviews with Indianapolis and Arizona so that he could focus on game preparation for San Francisco’s divisional round game against Dallas (which the 49ers won yesterday, 19-12). Ryans did complete interviews with Denver and Houston.

Former Alabama defensive back Jason Jones is moving from Indiana to North Carolina to become the Tar Heel’s new cornerbacks coach. Jones has spent the last three seasons on the Hoosiers staff coaching safeties.

Tevin Mack has signed with Sporting Clube (Lisbon) of Portugal’s Liga Betclic (its top-tier league).

At her request, Alana Gonçalo Da Silva has been granted a release from Melilla La Salle (Spain) for the remainder of the season. Alana had previously announced that she was returning to Sampaio Basquete in Brazil at the conclusion of her season in Spain. Sampaio’s season won’t get underway until April, so she’ll get some semblance of an offseason for the first time since she began splitting time in Spain and Brazil three years ago.
