Tommy Hunter has made the New York Mets’ Opening Day roster. Hunter, signed to a minor league contract in the off-season, could exercise an opt-out clause today if he were not added to the major league roster. Hunter didn’t allow a run this spring. 2023 will be Hunter’s 16th season in the major leagues.
On the eve of the beginning of the NWSL season, the Portland Thorns have signed 1st-round pick Reyna Reyes. Reyes was signed to a two-year contract with a team option for 2025.
Collin Sexton, who has missed the last 12 games with a left hamstring game, says that he “absolutely” expects to return to action before the end of the regular season (which has 9 games left). Sexton also shared information on his rehab process, and how the team is working with him to prevent future hamstring injuries (Sexton also missed 12 games games earlier in the season with a right hamstring injury).
Ar’mond Davis scored 24 points and added 11 rebounds in Kipinä’s quarterfinal sweep of Helsinki NMKY in Finland’s Division 1 playoffs.
Nick King posted his first career triple-double for New Taipei today. King had 22 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists. The 10 assists are a career high.
Cheyenne Knight moved into the Top 10 at the LPGA Drive On Championship with a third round 66 today. Knight, -13, is T-7th going into the final round.
Angelica Moresco will make her first professional cut this weekend in her second pro start at the IOA Championship (Epson Tour).
Herb Jones took an elbow to the eye late in the first half, but returned to the Pelicans’ game in the second half in a 131-110 road win. Jones was the primary defender in holding Kahwi Leonard to a 4-for-16 shooting night.
