Alabama Pro Athlete of the Week – Wilson Furr (May 22, 2023)

Your Alabama Pro Athlete of the Week is Wilson Furr. Furr finished a career-best T-2nd at the AdventHealth Championship, marking his second straight Top 10 finish. Furr set a course record during Round 1, and led or co-led at the end of the first three rounds. Furr is now 26th in points on the Korn Ferry Tour.

Runner-up this week is Chase Lee. Lee pitched 6 scoreless innings, striking out 8 and earning his first save of the season. Lee was named Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week.

Kristian Gkolomeev won 3 gold medals (50m Free, 50m Fly, 100m Free) at the Greek National Swimming Championships.

Rhyan White took 2nd in two events (200m Back, 50m Back) and 4th in a third (100m Back) at the TYR Pro Swim Series event in Mission Viejo.

Quanesha Burks finished 2nd in the Women’s Long Jump at the Bermuda Grand Prix.

David Robertson picked up 2 wins and a save for the New York Mets.

Tyler Gentry was 8-for-22 (.364) and had 3 multi-hit games for the week.

Morgan McCullough hit two home runs in a game, and had two multi-hit games for the week.

Peyton Wilson was 7-for-18 (.389), which included a 3-hit game.

Nick King won the Taiwan T1 League championship in New Taipei’s four-game sweep. King had 26 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals in Game 3 of the sweep.

Trevor Lacey had a 22 point game and a 20 point game in Vanoli Cremona’s quarterfinals series sweep.

Jordan Bruner had 14 points in Děčín’s Game 7 win to advance to the Czech NBL championship series.

Braxton Key averaged 15.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 6.0 assists in 3 games for Bayamon. The week included a 17 point, 13 rebound, 8 assist game.

Retin Obasohan scored 15 points in ASVEL’s opening round playoff win.

Levi Randolph had 11 points and 6 rebounds in Hapoel Jerusalem’s play-opener.
