News

Lee Hodges birdied four of his last six holes for a second round 64 and a 4-stroke lead at the 3M Open. Hodges has 15 birdies (8 in Round 1 and 7 today) and no bogeys at the halfway point. Hodges’ -15 and his 4-stroke lead are both 3M Open tournament records.

Wilson Furr has a share of the lead when second round play was suspended at the NV5 Invitational. Furr, who shot at -6 64 on Thursday, was -6 through 17 holes today when play was suspended.

Kristian Gkolomeev (Men’s 50m Freestyle) and Rhyan White (Women’s 200m Backstroke) both reached the finals with 7th place semifinal finishes at the World Aquatics Championships in Japan.

Athletes Unlimited opened its 4th regular season today in Rosemont, Illinois, with Haylie McCleney serving as one of the four captains for Week 1. Sydney Littlejohn Watkins is also participating in the league.

Brian Robinson says that he never felt comfortable last season, and to expect him to build upon his rookie season.

Evan Neal, inspired by fellow tackle Andrew Thomas, says he’s lost 10-15 pounds during the off-season.

Former Alabama Rugby player Caleb Strum was selected by the Miami Sharks in the Major League Rugby expansion draft. Strum, originally drafted by the Austin Gilgronis, spent the past season with the Chicago Hounds after the Gilgronis were disbanded. Miami has until August 6 to negotiate a deal with Strum, or he’ll revert to the Chicago roster.

Emma Talley made a hole in one on the second hole today at the Evian Championship, which is fortunate since she made the cut on the number.

Collin Sexton will be the special guest at Unity in the Community basketball clinic and back-to-school bash on Saturday at Kipp Metro Collegiate High School in Atlanta.
