Alabama Pro Athlete of the Week – Shelby McEwen (February 12, 2024)

Your Alabama Pro Athlete of the Week is Shelby McEwen. McEwen jumped an indoor personal best 2.33 meters to win a meet in the Czech Republic. McEwen’s jump matched the world lead, and was his highest jump achieved since the 2022 outdoor season.

Runner-up this week is Saketh Myneni. Myneni won the doubles title at the ATP Chennai Open for his 34th career title, and his 17th on the Challenger Tour. Myneni and his partner defeated the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th seeds en route to the title.

Others of note:

Brandon Miller had a 33 point, 4 rebound, 3 assist, 4 steal game to give him back-to-back 30+ point games. For the week, he averaged 21.75 points in 4 games.

Herb Jones had a 13 point, 7 rebound game and a 14 point, 4 rebound, 5 assist, 3 steal game in a 3-1 week for New Orleans.

Collin Sexton had a 19 point, 8 assist game.

J.D. Davison matched his career high of 38 points in a 38/5/8 game. Davison averaged 29.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 7.5 assists for the week.

Jaden Shackelford had a 30 point game and averaged 24.0 points per game for the week.

Braxton Key had a 29 point, 12 rebound, 5 assist, 3 steal, 3 block G League game.

Alex Reese averaged 14.3 points off the bench, including a 20 point game in 14 minutes of playing time.

Kira Lewis had a 20 point, 6 assist game in his final game with the Toronto G League affiliate.

Levi Randolph scored 21 points in Hapoel Jerusalem’s Champions League game and was named Champions League player of the week.

Mykal Riley had a 24 point game for Besançon.

James Rojas scored 24 points for Kipinä.

Justin Thomas finished T-12th at the WM Phoenix Open.

Victor Johansson set a new Swedish national record in the Men’s 400m Freestyle and finished 6th at the World Aquatics Championships.
