Alex Avila was announced today as a member of the Bally Sports Florida broadcast team for the Miami Marlins. Avila work do pre-game and post-game studio work for a select number of games. Avila is also still doing studio work for MLB Network.
Lauren Stephenson and Davis Shore had strong first rounds in their respective events. Stephenson, who could have gotten into the LPGA field in California this week as first alternate, chose not to fly back across the country and played the Epson Tour event in Florida instead. She shot an opening round 63 (-8) and has a share of the lead. Shore, with 3 weeks between Korn Ferry Tour events, chose to play in the PGA Americas season opener in Mexico during the layoff. He opened with a 66 and is in second place at -6.
J.D. Davison tied a Maine Celtics/Red Claws franchise record with his 21st double-double this season.
