US Open final qualifiers were held at 10 sites around the country today, with 8 current and former Alabama golfers teeing up at five of the sites. Frankie Capan took medalist honors at the Durham, NC site to advance to the US Open for a second time. Elsewhere, Thomas Ponder tied for the final qualifying spot at the Jupiter, FL site, but lost in a 3-for-1 playoff. No other Alabama golfers qualified.
Kennesaw State head basketball coach Antoine Pettway has hired former Alabama teammates Philip Pearson and Chuck Davis onto his staff. Pearson, who most recently coached at UAB, will fill the assistant basketball coach vacancy. Davis, who worked in private business since his playing career ended, will serve as a special assistant to Pettway.
