With Taijuan Walker landing on the injured list, Spencer Turnbull has landed back in the Philadelphia Phillies’ starting rotation. The timing, ironically, means that his first start back in the rotation was today against his old team, the Detroit Tigers. Turnbull discussed his tumultuous final year in Detroit and his return to the city that was his home for several years. Turnbull left today’s start after 3 innings with right shoulder soreness.
T.J. Reeves hit a 2-out walk-off grand slam this afternoon to give Florence an 8-7 win over Schaumburg.
Riley Tanner is the latest Alabama alum to sign with the USL Super League. Tanner has joined the Spokane Zephyr FC.
It’s “Irrelevant Week” in Newport Beach, CA, where Jaylen Key is getting honored all week for being the last pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Festivities include batting practice at the Angels’ game yesterday, jet-skiing around Newport Beach, banquets, and other activities. Irrelevant Week is sponsored by a non-profit organization that sells tickets to some of the activities, with proceeds benefitting various community charities.
The Bart and Cherry Starr Museum opened on June 21 on the campus of Rawhide Youth Services, just outside of New London, Wisconsin. Rawhide was founded by the Starrs during Starr’s playing days in Green Bay.
