Erin Routliffe is now officially ranked #1 in the WTA Doubles rankings, as the tour updated its rankings today following Wimbledon fortnight. Routliffe is the first Alabama men’s or women’s tennis player to reach #1 in professional rankings.
Day 2 of the MLB Draft continued today with Rounds 3 through 10. Gage Miller came off the board in the third round, going to the Miami Marlins with the 92nd overall pick. Greg Farone had his named called by the San Francisco Giants in the 7th round, with the 208th pick. Former Alabama players Brandon Clarke and Grant Knipp (both of whom redshirted as freshmen, then transferred) also were drafted, in the 5th and 6th rounds respectively.
