Shelby McEwen wrapped things up for the Alabama contingency at the Paris Olympics with a Silver Medal in the Men’s High Jump. McEwen, who’s previous personal best was 2.33 meters, cleared 2.34 meters on his third attempt, then was successful at 2.36 meters on his first attempt at that height. McEwen and Hamish Kerr of New Zealand were the only jumpers to prevail at 2.36 meters, and proceeded to a jump-off to determine the Gold Medal. Kerr prevailed on the fifth jump. For McEwen, it’s his first medal at the Olympics, and his second silver medal in a global competition (he also won silver at the World Indoor Championships earlier this year).
Haylie McCleney played in her 100th career Athletes Unlimited game tonight, becoming just the second player to reach that plateau. McCleney homered in the game and was named 2nd MVP.
