Alabama Pro Athlete of the Week – Xavier McKinney (October 7, 2024)

Your Alabama Pro Athlete of the Week is Xavier McKinney. McKinney produced turnovers on back-to-back drives in the 3rd quarter of Green Bay’s game this week. The Packers scored on both drives to turn a 13-10 deficit into a 24-13 lead. McKinney intercepted a pass in his 5th straight game since joining the Packers, and is the first player in the Super Bowl era to intercept passes in his first 5 games with a new team.

Others of note:

Patrick Surtain II intercepted two passes, one of which he returned 100 yards for a touchdown.

Mack Wilson created two turnovers (interception and fumble recovery) and made six tackles.

Marlon Humphrey intercepted a pass late in Baltimore’s game to lead to a game-tying field goal.

Minkah FItzpatrick made 10 tackles.

Anfernee Jennings had 8 tackles, and a sack.

Derrick Henry rushed for 92 yards, and reached both 10,000 career rushing yards and 100 career touchdowns in the same game.

Josh Jacobs had 105 yards from scrimmage and a rushing touchdown.

Jahmyr Gibbs had 78 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns.

Jameson Williams had 80 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Will Reichard made 3 field goals, including 2 over 50 yards.

Bud Cauley finished T-5th at the Sanderson Farms Championship for his best finish since January 2020.

Lauren Stephenson finished T-8th at the Epson Tour Championship and ended the season as the top-ranked golfer on the tour.

Frankie Capan finished T-5th at the Korn Ferry Tour Championship.

Benedetta Moresco finished T-17th at the Epson Tour Championship.

Thomas Ponder won his first professional tournament on the Emerald Coast Golf Tour.

Canon Claybomb won a mini-tour event in Florida.

Jordan Bruner had an 18 points, 11 rebound game.

Ar’mond Davis had 25 points and 9 rebounds in his debut in Ireland.

Alana Gonçalo Da Silva had a 17 point, 7 assist game.
