News
The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 to win Super Bowl LIX. Congratulations to Jalen Hurts, DeVonta Smith, Landon Dickerson, Tyler Steen, Eli Ricks (inactive for the game), and Byron Young (on Injured Reserve) for winning the championship! Four active players in a Super Bowl game are the most Alabama players on the winning Super Bowl team, and six total roster players are also the most Alabama players on a Super Bowl-winning roster.
Other Super Bowl notes:
- Jalen Hurts joins Bart Starr (Super Bowls I & II) and Joe Namath (Super Bowl III) as Alabama players to be named Super Bowl MVP.
- Hurts’ 4th career Super Bowl rushing touchdown ties John Elway for most Super Bowl rushing touchdown by a quarterback. The rushing touchdown was his 10th career post-season rushing touchdown, which extends his record.
- Hurts’ 72 rushing yards tonight breaks his own record for rushing yards by a quarterbackin a Super Bowl (he had 70 rushing yards in Super Bowl LVII).
- Hurts joins Bart Starr, Joe Namath, and Ken Stabler as Alabama quarterbacks to start and win Super Bowls (Jeff Rutledge won as a back-up).
- DeVonta Smith becomes the first Heisman winner to catch a TD pass in a Super Bowl, and is just the 5th player (with Tony Dorsett, Marcus Allen, Reggie Bush, Charles Woodson) to win an NCAA championship, Heisman Trophy, and Super Bowl.

As part of Grenada’s 2025 independence celebration, Kirani James has been conferred with the title of “Sir.”
