Krystal Rivers announced today that she will retire from professional volleyball at the conclusion of Allianz MTV Stuttgart’s season. Rivers’ story of perserverance and success is unmatched. She overcame a birth defect to earn an athletic scholarship to Alabama, then beat Non-Hodgkin lymphoma during her freshman year to later become SEC Player of the Year. As a professional, Rivers won a championship with Beziers in France during her first professional season, and has gone on to win 4 championships, 2 DVV Cups, and 2 SuperCups in Stuttgart. She has also been named MVP of the Volley Bundesliga twice. The fact that Rivers has endured multiple surgeries during her playing career to address the complications related to hear previous health battles makes her success even more remarkable.

Also officially announcing a retirement today was Camilla Lennarth. Lennarth’s last full year on the Ladies European Tour was in 2023, but she’s been limited by injuries for much of the last five years. Lennarth’s lone win on the LET was the 2014 Slovak Open.

The Indoor Football League launched another season tonight. Representing Alabama in the league on opening weekend are D.J. Dale with Massachusetts Pirates, and Dominic Jackson and Leon Brown with the Jacksonville Sharks).
