Alabama Pro Athlete of the Week – Erin Routliffe (September 8, 2025)

Your Alabama Pro Athlete of the Week is Erin Routliffe. Routliffe and partner Gaby Dabrowski won the women’s doubles championship at the US Open with a straight-set win over the top-seeded Townsend / Siniakova. It’s the duo’s 2nd US Open title in three years.

Others of note:

Jeremy Gschwendtner won his second doubles title of the summer, and reached the doubles finals in his fourth straight event.

Khaleb McRae set the meet record in the Men’s 400 Meter at the World Athletics Continental Tour stop in Beijing.

Brett Auerbach homered twice in late innings for Piratas de Campeche in the team’s semifinals playoff series.

Andrew Pinckney extended his hitting streak to 7 games, and had an on-base percentage of .520 for the week.

Ben Hess allowed 1 run over 5 innings with 7 strikeouts in a rain-shortened game, and picked up his 3rd straight decision.

Dylan Smith pitched 3.1 scoreless innings with 5 strikeout, and picked up 2 wins in his rehab stint with West Michigan.

Kade Woods pitched 3 scoreless innings with 5 strikeouts, and picked up a save for Augusta.

Justin King pitched 3.1 scoreless innings in relief for Pensacola.

Jalen Hurts rushed for 62 yards and 2 touchdowns, and picked up a career-high 5 first-downs on scrambles. Hurts also threw for 152 yards in Philadelphia’s win.

Derrick Henry rushed for 169 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Josh Jacobs had 66 yards rushing and a touchdown.

Jordan Battle had 12 tackles and an interception.

Mack Wilson had 8 tackles, a tackle for loss, and a pass defended.

Jihaad Campbell forced a fumble deep in Philadelphia territory, and also broked up a pass on a seam route late in Philadelphia’s win, thus preventing 2 potential scores.

Daron Payne had 4 tackles, a sack, and broke up 2 passes.

Patrick Surtain II gave up zero receiving yards, and broke up the pass on the only pass in which he was targeted.

Josh Jobe had an interception.

Will Anderson had 3 tackles for loss and a sack.

Henry To’oTo’o had 6 tackles, a sack, and a pass defended.

J.K. Scott punted for a 53.0 yard average.

Polly Mack finished T-12th at the Aramco Houston Championship.

McKinley Crone recorded a shutout in Orlando Pride’s win in the CONCACAF Women’s Champions Cup.
