Nealy Martin, one of the most popular players in recent Gotham FC memory, was traded by the team to Angel City FC today in exchange for cash considerations. The trade was conducted at Martin’s request. Martin was acquired by Gotham in a waiver wire acquisition at the end of the 2022 season, and was part of the team’s NWSL championship in 2023. She became a beloved figure in Gotham history when she was pressed into duty as goalkeeper during extra time of Gotham’s championship win and immediately had to face a free kick. Martin shared her reasons for requesting the move with SI.com.
