Opening Day rosters have been announced for The Upshot League, a new women’s professional basketball league that will launch its inaugural season on Friday with franchises in Jacksonville, Greensboro, Charlotte, and Savannah. Jasmine Walker, one of the early signees by the league, is playing for the Jacksonvill Waves. Jessica Timmons, waived last week by the WNBA’s Indiana Fever, appears on the opening roster of the Greensboro Groove. The league hopes to become a developmental league of the WNBA.
Community Outreach
The 5th Annual Mack Wilson Sr. Celebrity Basketball Game and Community Day will be held this coming Saturday at Corona Del Sol High School in Tempe, Arizona.
Justin Thomas reportedly made a “significant contribution” to First Tee of Greater Charlotte last week while at the Truist Championship. The contribution will allow over 350 children to attend the organization’s camp this summer.
