Jim Jarvis had the brightest day of his young major league career today. Jarvis was 3-for-5, with his first career home run, a double, a single, and 2 RBI. Jarvis also turned a 6U-3 double play late in the game while the Braves’ lead was a 1-run margin.
Thomas Ponder shot an opening round 63 – despite carding bogeys on his first two holes – to share the lead at the Explore NB Open tournament on the Americas Tour. Charlie Nikitas is at -7, 1 stroke back.
Labaron Philon and Latrell Wrightsell made their Las Vegas Summer League debuts today. Philon scored 18 points and had 7 assists in his debut.
The Minnesota Twins have placed Connor Prielipp on the injured list with a blister on his middle finger. The blister has been an issue in recent starts, and popped up again after yesterday’s outing.
Derek Maas swam competitively for the first time in 2 years recently at the JAWS Sun & Fun Spectacular in Michigan, and dropped a 28.82 second 50 Meter Breaststroke to set the pool record. Maas is currently in his second year of medical school at New York University.
Herb Jones will be a gues instructor at the Swiss All Star Basketball Camp in Zofingen, Switzerland later this month.
