NFL teams were required to reduce off-season rosters from 80 to 53 today, so over 800 players were involved in roster moves today. The Alabama contingency took its share of hits:
- A’Shawn Robinson (LA Rams) was placed on the Non-Football Injury list, which sidelines him for at least 6 games.
- Reuben Foster (Washington) was placed on Injured Reserve.
- Carson Tinker (NY Giants) – released.
- Shyheim Carter (NY Jets ) – waived.
- Lester Cotton (Las Vegas) – waived.
- Gehrig Dieter (Kansas City) – waived.
- Robert Foster (Buffalo) – waived.
- Derrick Gore (LA Chargers) – waived.
- Hale Hentges (Washington) – waived.
- Jared Mayden (San Francisco) – waived.
- Ross Pierschbacher (Washington) – waived.
- Cam Sims (Washington) – waived.
- Maurice Smith (Cincinnati) – waived.
- Saivion Smith (Dallas) – waived.
- Tim Williams (Green Bay) – waived.
Players with less than 4 accrued seasons are subject to waiver claims. If a waived player is claimed, the claiming team has to put the player on its 53-man roster and release another player. Players with 4 or more accrued seasons immediate become free agents.
Teams have until noon ET tomorrow to submit a waiver claim. After 4pm ET, teams can begin to sign players to practice squads. Practice squads are expanded this season to 16 slots, with up to 6 slots available to veterans with 3 or more accrued seasons.
