Derrick Henry put on a first-half show for Tennessee today, rushing for 140 yards and 3 touchdowns, as Tennessee went into the half with a 35-14 lead over Indianapolis. The Titan’s lightened Henry’s load somewhat in the second half, and Henry ended up with 178 yards en route to a 45-26 victory. Some milestones from Henry today:

  • Henry eclipsed the 5,000 yard rushing mark for his career.
  • Henry’s 3rd touchdown today was the 50th rushing TD of his career.
  • Henry had his 7th 100-yard rushing game of the season.
  • The Colts surrendered a 100-yard rushing game for just the 3rd time in the last three seasons. All three 100-yard rushers were Derrick Henry.
  • Henry had his 8th consecutive 100-yard rushing day in a road game, which equals the 2nd longest such streak in the NFL since 1960. Only Barry Sanders, with 10 games, has a longer streak.
  • It was the second time in his career that Henry has reached 100 rushing yards and scored 3 TDs in a half. In the last 20 years, only Shaun Alexander and LaDainian Tomlinson have had multiple games with such halves.
  • Henry gained 96 of his 140 first-half rush yards before initial contact, which was his most in a first half in his career and the most by any player in a first half this season.
  • Henry reached 10 rushing touchdowns for the 3rd straight season, matching Earl Campbell as the only two players to do so in Oilers/Titans franchise history.

Here’s the link to Henry’s post-game media session. And some highlights of Henry’s best runs from the day:

It was already a rough week for Alabama players injury-wise, with Ryan Anderson, Da’Shawn Hand, Julio Jones, Ryan Kelly, Terrell Lewis, Irv Smith Jr., and Tua Tagovailoa out with injuries, and Isaiah Buggs, D.J. Fluker, Mark Ingram, and Deionte Thompson on the Reserve / COVID-19 list. The list grew longer during the day, with Ronnie Harrison (shoulder), James Carpenter (groin), Josh Jacobs (ankle), and Calvin Ridley (ankle) all leaving with injuries. Ridley returned to his game, so his injury is probably the least severe. Harrison is headed for an MRI, and the severity of the other two’s injuries are unknown.

Reports from the Philadelphia media surfaced today that Jalen Hurts got some first-team reps during practice this past week, leading to speculation that he might get more than token snaps Monday night.

Xavier McKinney made his long-awaited debut for the New York Giants today, though his play was limited to select defensive packages and special teams. Mark Barron who was also poised to appear in his first game with Denver, was inactive.

Calvin Ridley’s touchdown today was his 7th of the season, and he becomes just the 4th receiver in the last 10 years to catch at least 7 TDs in his first three seasons.

JaMychal Green said goodbye to Clippers fans on Instagram today, then took the time to thank each commenter that wished him well in Denver.
