Alabama Pro Athletes of the Week – The Man of the Year Nominees (Dec 14)

Your Alabama Pro Athletes of the Week are Jonathan Allen, Bradley Bozeman, and Dalvin Tomlinson.  The trio were their respective teams’ nominees for the 2020 Walter Payton Man of the Year Award, which may be the NFL’s most prestigious award. Nominees show excellence both on field and in charitable endeavors.

Two runners-up this week.  The first is Derrick Henry.  Henry rushed for a season-high 215 yards and 2 TDs, and set an NFL record with four career games with at least 200 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. He also extended his 100 yd streak in road games to 9, which is second-longest streak in Super Bowl era.

Other runner up this week is Jalen Hurts.  In his first career start, Hurts led Philadelphia to a 24-21 win, breaking a 4 game losing streak. Hurts became the first quarterback since 1950 to rush for 100 yards and throw a TD pass in his first career start.

Others of note (lots of people had big weeks, so this is particularly long today):

Tua Tagovailoa had 316 passing yards, 2 passing TDs, and 1 rushing TD.

Calvin Ridley had 124 receiving yards and a TD.

Cam Sims had 92 receiving yards in the Wk 13 Monday night game.

Daron Payne had 5 tackles, a sack, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.

Jonathan Allen was 4 QB hits over the course of two games last week.

Bradley Bozeman was a key cog in Baltimore rushing for 294 yards in the Wk 13 Tuesday game.

Amari Cooper had 2 TDs in 2 games.

Raekwon Davis was credited with 5 tackles.

Kenyan Drake had 90 yards from scrimmage and a TD.

Rashaan Evans was credited with 8 tackles and 2 passes defended.

Levi Wallace had 3 passes defended and an interception.

J.K. Scott averaged 50.5 yards per punt.

Justin Knox had 3 double-doubles in 3 games last week, with a 19.3 point, 10.3 rebound average.

Retin Obasohan had a 17 point / 6 assist game.

Ricky Tarrant had a 15 point / 8 rebound / 6 assist game.

Arthur Edwards had a 20 point game.

Maruschka Waldus’ team won the NM Cupen in Norway.

Krystal Rivers led the Champs League Pool D in points (59) in 3 matches played.
