It’s the eve of a new NBA season, with Kira Lewis Jr. poised to make his NBA debut tomorrow evening. The Pelicans’ website ran a great feature today on Lewis, written by Birmingham’s Kevin Scarbinsky.

Denver Nuggets have ruled JaMychal Green out of tomorrow’s season-opener with a calf strain.

Mark Barron was waived by the Denver Broncos today. Barron signed with the Broncos at the end of training camp, but ended up on Injured Reserve with a hamstring injury and a pectoral injury. He came off IR three weeks ago, but hasn’t appeared in a game for the Broncos.

Jalen Hurts has been nominated for the Pepsi Rookie of the Week for the second straight week.
