News

Michael Thompson was a big mover in the final round at The American Express, finishing T-5th. Thompson’s final round 66 (which actually included a triple-bogey) propelled him 20 spots on the final day.

Cheyenne Knight’s consistent play at the LPGA’s Tournament of Champions resulted in a T-5 finish, the fourth of her career. Knight shot 69 or lower all four rounds and was in the Top 6 from Day 2 through the final round. Knight’s 4th career Top 5 finish ties her with Emma Talley for the most ever by an Alabama golfer on the LPGA Tour.

Collin Sexton scored 13 points tonight in limited minutes in Cleveland’s blow-out loss, thus ending his streak of 20+ point games at 15 straight games. He did, however, score his 3,000th career point.

Super Bowl LV will feature Kansas City and Tampa Bay. While both teams have an Alabama player on their rosters, it is unlikely that either will play in the game. Gehrig Dieter is on Kansas City’s practice squad, and could be signed to the active roster for the game (he did play in the Divisional Playoff game). O.J. Howard (Tampa Bay) is on Injured Reserve following surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon and definitely will not play.

Pinson Valley High School’s basketball coaching staff includes not one, but two former Crimson Tide basketball playersTerry Conor and Brian Williams. Both of their sons play on the varsity team

Ruebin Walters finished 3rd in the 60m hurdles at the inaugural American Track League meet in Fayetteville, Arkansas today.

The Tucson Star ran a feature on Levi Wallace leading up to today’s AFC Championship Game.

Second one of these this week – a feature on how new Jets head coach Robert Saleh can help Quinnen Williams reach the next level.
