Tonight’s Firefly Recovery 5000 meter indoor run at Virginia Beach was supposed to be a showcase for Nike’s Paul Chelimo to take a shot at the American record, but it was former Alabama distance runner Emmanuel Bor who stole the show. Bor won the race with a time of 13:05.60, which eclipsed his personal best by five seconds, and was the 2nd fastest time ever by an American in an indoor 5000 meter.
Kira Lewis, who was a DNP – Coach’s Decision the past four games, scored 11 points in 17 minutes of playing time in a New Orleans loss. Lewis was a team-best +7.
Donta Hall’s 10-day contract with Toronto doesn’t lapse until Sunday, but tonight was Toronto’s last game before the mid-season break, so he didn’t appear in any NBA games during the current contract. Hall could be reassigned to Raptors 905 for its regular season finale on Saturday, but won’t be eligible for the G League playoffs since he wasn’t in the bubble for today’s deadline. Since Toronto doesn’t resume play until next Thursday, Hall’s status could be in limbo until Toronto (or another team) gives him another 10-day contract.
