Jimmy Nelson made his first competitive baseball appearance since September 2019 yesterday, prompting the Los Angeles Times to do a piece on what Nelson has had to overcome since his fateful baserunning injury in 2017. As for the outing, Nelson gave up an unearned run in an inning of work.

Christopher Reid finished second at the TYR Pro Swim Series meet in San Antonio in the 200m Back, with a time of 1:59.60.

Alex Avila made his first start behind the plate tonight for Washington, catching Max Scherzer. It was the first time that Avila had caught Scherzer in 6.5 years. Avila also hit a 3-run homer in the first inning.

Two more wins for Saketh Myneni at the ITF Lucknow 15K, as he advanced to the semifinals in singles and finals in doubles early today, both in straight-set fashion.

The Champions League recognized Retin Obasohan as one of its players of the week for the first round of the playoffs. Meanwhile, Obasohan says there are no hard feelings following his win versus his former German team this week.

Carl Tucker did an interview with NFL Draft Diamonds to discuss the upcoming draft.

Thomas Fletcher appears on this week’s Pro Football Chase podcast, also to discuss the draft.

Community Outreach

Derrick Henry recently read about a Nashville area fireman losing his home in a fire, and reached out to the fireman with a grant from his foundation (partially matched by Campbell’s Chunky Soup) to replace part of what he’d lost.
