Alabama Pro Athletes of the Week – Quanesha Burks and Shelby McEwen (June 28)

Your Alabama Pro Athletes of the Week are Quanesha Burks and Shelby McEwen. Both jumpers qualified for their first Olympics this weekend by finishing 3rd in their respective events at the USATF Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon. Burks’ top jump in the long jump was a career-best 6.96 meters, while McEwen topped out in the high jump at 2.30 meters.

Others of note:

Kenzie Wright tied for first in regulation at the Women’s All Pro Tour Bella Vista Charity Classic, before losing in a playoff. The 2nd place finish earned her an exemption into an upcoming Symetra Tour event.

Lee Hodges finished T-5th at the Korn Ferry Tour’s Live and Work in Maine Open.

Kimberley Ficenec won the Women’s 800m at the Czech Republic Championships.

Olivia Fotopoulou finished 1st in the Women’s 100m at a meet in Greece, and took 3rd in the Women’s 200m at the Balkan Championships.

Filippa Fotopoulou finished 3rd in the Women’s Long Jump at the Balkan Championships.

Claire Orcel finished 3rd in the Women’s High Jump at the Belgian National Championship.

Emmanuel Bor finished 5th in the Men’s 5000m at the USATF Olympic Trials.

Remona Burchell finished 5th in the Women’s 100m at the Jamaica AAA Senior Championships.

Ruebin Walters finished 1st in the Men’s 110m Hurdles at the Bahamas National Track & Field Championships.
