Alabama Pro Athlete of the Week – Jake Walters (July 12)

Your Alabama Pro Athlete of the Week is Jake Walters. Walters was promoted two levels on Saturday, to AAA Jacksonville, and threw 5.0 scoreless innings with 6 strikeouts in his AAA debut against Charlotte that evening. Walters retired 15 out of 16 batters in one stretch, including 9 in a row. The opposing lineup that Walters faced included 6 players with major league experience, with a combined 2,453 MLB at bats and 78 MLB home runs.

Runner-up this week is Blake Sims. Sims played in his first-ever Indoor Football League game for the Spokane Shock on Saturday night, starting in place the injured incumbent starter. Sims would run for 3 touchdowns and throw for a fourth one in leading Spokane to a 46-35 win over Sioux Falls.

Retin Obasohan had an 18 point, 6 assist game and an 11 point, 11 rebound game in exhibition game wins for the Belgium national team.

Alana Gonçalo Da Silva had an 18 point, 6 rebound, 3 assist game for Ituano.
