Tokyo Paralympics – Alabama Athletes Participating

The 2021 Tokyo Paralympics, now scheduled for August 24, 2021 through September 5, 2021, will be well-represented by current and former athletes from the Alabama Adapted Athletics program.

Michael Auprince and Jannik Blair are part of the Australian team named on July 21. Georgia Ingliss, who was to have been a part of the Australian women’s wheelchair team, had to pull out of the competition.

Wheelchair Basketball Canada named its teams on July 19. Bo Hedges was named to the men’s wheelchair team for a 4th time. The women’s team included Rosalie Lalonde, Cindy Ouellet, and Arynn Young.

Catharina Weiss, Barbara Gross, and Kate Lang were named to the German women’s wheelchair basketball team on July 19. Annika Zeyen was named to the Paralympic team to compete in cycling events.

Shelby Baron and former Alabama adapted athlete Connor Stroud were named to Team USA’s wheelchair tennis team.

Bailey Moody, Abby Bauleke, and Lindsey Zurbrugg were named to Team USA’s women’s wheelchair basketball team on July 12.

Ignacio Ortega and Sara Revuelta have both been named to Spain’s teams by the FEDDF.

Incoming Alabama Adapted athlete Joy Hɑizelden and alumnae Jude Hamer and Laurie Williams are members of the Great Britain women’s wheelchair basketball team.
