Kirani James, who was already the first sprinter to appear in the finals of three straight Olympic Men’s 400 meter races, took the bronze medal with a time of 44.19 seconds. It’s the third straight Olympics in which James has reached the podium, taking gold in 2012 and silver in 2016.

Tua Tagovailoa and the Tua Foundation announced today a donation of $93,000 will be made to the Tallapoosa County Girls Ranch to cover funeral expenses for the eight juveniles, ages 4-17, that were killed in a recent accident on I-65 in Alabama. The donation will also cover counseling expenses for the girls of the ranch that lost loved ones. The Foundation will contribute $46,500 of the proceeds from its recent fundraiser at Bryant Denny Stadium, and Tagovailoa will personally match the contribution.

AS Monaco officially announced the signing of Donta Hall to a two-year contract today.

Mac Jones again drew rave reviews for his performance at Patriots practice today, particularly with today’s practice being held in the rain. Jones continues to build momentum in the quarterback competition, and whether he starts or not, his rapid development is a good sign for the Patriots.

The Detroit Pistons and New Orleans Pelicans both released rosters today for the upcoming Las Vegas Summer League. John Petty will be playing for the Pistons, while Kira Lewis and Herb Jones will suit up for the Pelicans. Play gets underway on August 8.

  • Jones said he’s a visual learner so he draws the plays on paper to help him learn the playbook.
  • On padded practices, Jones said it’s good to practice in pads because that’s how the game is, and that you want to practice how you play.
  • Jones indicated that he works on football “all day long.”
