Alabama Pro Athlete of the Week – Justin Thomas (September 27)

Your Alabama Pro Athlete of the Week is Justin Thomas. Thomas was part of the United States’ 19-9 Ryder Cup victory, going 2-1-1 in his four matches, including picking up a win and a draw in matches where he was 3 down on the front nine. Thomas now has a career record in Ryder Cup play of 6-2-1.

Others of note:

Erin Routliffe reached the finals of a second-straight WTA event, doing so with different playing partners. Routliffe reached a career-best doubles ranking of 55th after this week.

Morgan McCullough was part of the Kansas City Monarch squad that won the American Association championship. McCullough was 3-for-5 in the series-clinching game.

Brett Auerbach and the Eugene Emeralds won the High-A West League championship. Auerbach homered in the series finale.

Geoffrey Bramblett won the Frontier League championship as part of the Schaumburg Boomers. Bramblett started Game 2 of the series.

Alex Avila went 2-for-4 and reached base 3 times in his lone starting appearance during the week.

Levi Randolph scored 23 points in the BNXT League season opener for Oostende.

Ar’mond Davis hit a game-winning 3 pointer with 0.4 seconds left to give Leeuwarden a 1 point win.

Derrick Henry had 113 yards rushing and 144 yards from scrimmage in Week 3. He was also named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 2.

Najee Harris had 102 yards receiving on 14 catches, and was targeted 19 times in the passing game.

Henry Ruggs had 78 receiving yards.

Rashaan Evans had 8 tackles and a tackle for loss.

A’Shawn Robinson had 6 tackles.

C.J. Mosley had 10 tackles.

Patrick Surtain II had 5 tackles and a pass defended in a shutout win.

Tom Lovelady won the Mount Vintage Classic on the Rolling Red Golf Tour.

Steven Setterstrom advanced to Stage 2 of Korn Ferry Tour qualifying.

Courtney McKim reached match play at the US Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship.
