News

Mac Jones is nominated for the FedEx Air Player of the Week for Week 12.

Xavier McKinney turned in another stellar performance yesterday, and the New York Giants think they have a superstar in the making. The linked thread shows All-22 highlights of some of McKinney’s better plays.

Per Kirani James’ Instagram page, there is a documentary in the works about the three-time Olympic medalist.

This feature from The Athletic interviews Herbert Jones and discovers what has made him one of the better up-and-coming defenders in the NBA.

Here are some statistics to show the run that Tua Tagovailoa is currently on. Tagovailoa’s 11.7 yards per attempt on RPO passes leads the NFL. Tagovailoa is just the 4th quarterback in NFL history to complete at least 80% of his passes in back-to-back games with at least 30 attempts. Tagovailoa also ranks 8th in QBR this season, despite the Dolphins ranking last in pass block win rate. Finally, Tagovailoa completed all 19 of his quick passes (less than 2.5 seconds) for 133 yards and a touchdown Sunday, which was the most completions without an incompletion on quick passes in a game since NextGen Stats began tracking the statistic in 2016.

Another by-product of Mac Jones throwing an easily-catchable ball is that the Patriots now have one of the lowest drop rates in the NFL. And Jones received a prime compliment from Brett Favre on Sirius XM Radio.

Amari Cooper returned to the Cowboys’ facility today, but hasn’t returned to practice or been activated from COVID Reserve yet.

Media Appearances

Mac Jones had his weekly appearance on WEEI’s Merloni and Fauria today. Jones says the teams stays hungry by taking the same approach as they did when they were 2-4.

Minkah Fitzpatrick spoke to the media at the Steelers’ facility today. Fitzpatrick stressed the need for the defense to change practice habits in order to get better results on Sundays.

Eddie Jackson addressed the media in Chicago as well.

Greg McElroy appears on Trent Dilfer’s Beyond the Xs and Os podcast to discuss the early Saban years.

Money quote from Jonathan Allen’s post-game media appearance: “I hate losing more than I like winning… That’s what we’re supposed to do. You don’t reward a fish for swimming…Now you have to look with a critical eye… you can’t get complacent. We haven’t arrived yet.” Full appearance linked here.

Landon Collins was interviewed on the field post-game and also appeared at the post-game presser.
