In Memoriam

The Dothan Eagle has reported that former Alabama football star Robert Stewart died yesterday in Charlotte, North Carolina at the age of 55. Stewart, who grew up in Houston County, came to Alabama as a fullback in 1988, and was switched to nose guard when the Gene Stallings staff took over. Stewart was First Team All SEC in 1991, and was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the 8th round of the 1992 draft. Stewart wouldn’t stick in the NFL, but would have a stellar career in the Arena Football League for 12 seasons.

News

Annika Zeyen picked up another gold medal in a handbike event – this one in the handbike time trials at the German paracycling national championships. She’ll have a shot at another tomorrow in the road race event.

Cheyenne Knight finished T-15th at the US Women’s Open, marking her best career finish in an LPGA major tournament. Her previous best was T-30th at the 2020 US Women’s Open.

Alex Amankwah won a deep field in the Men’s 800 Meter at the Music City Track Carnival with a season-best time of 1:46.14.
