Daniel Haugh unleashed a career-best 80.18 meter throw on his first attempt today to win the Men’s Hammer Throw at the USATF Outdoor Championships. Haugh defeated US record holder Rudy Winkler in the event.

It’s a busy track & field weekend, as most countries are holding national championships in advance of next month’s world championships. In other results, Tamara Clark won her heat in the Women’s 200 Meter prelims to advance to tomorrow’s semifinals. Olivia Fotopoulou won the Women’s 100 Meter in Cyprus’ championships, while her sister Filippa Fotopoulou won the Women’s Long Jump. Alan De Falchi won the Men’s Discus Throw at the Brazilian championships. Kimberley Ficenec finished second in the Women’s 800 Meter at the Czech Track & Field Championships.

Stephanie Meadow (-2, T10) is within 6 shots of the lead at the Women’s PGA Championship, as she tries for her second Top 10 finish on the season. Jiwon Jeon (-9, T3) and Kenzie Wright (-8, T8) remain in contention at the Epson Tour’s Island Resort Championship.

Oklahoma City Thunder general manager Sam Presti indicated today that the team plans to try to trade newly-acquired JaMychal Green before the beginning of the season.

Donta Hall’s French season officially came to an end today, as Monaco lost the deciding Game 5 in overtime to Lyon-Villeurbanne. Hall was inactive for the championship series.
