News

Collin Sexton finally got his long-term deal. Sexton was part of a massive trade between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Utah Jazz, and gets a new 4-year, $72 million contract as part of the day. Utah surrenders star player Donovan Mitchell and a couple of draft picks in exchange for Sexton, two other players, and five picks. Sexton’s contract surpasses the 6-year, $67.5 million contract that Antonio McDyess signed with Denver in January 1999 as the largest NBA contract signed by an Alabama player.

Derrick Henry received a $2 million raise for 2022 in a re-structured deal with the Tennessee Titans. Henry will now make $14 million this season, and the Titans will continue to work on an extension with Henry.

Brian Robinson was placed on the Reserve / Non-Football Injury list today by the Washington Commanders, which gives him a few weeks to recover from the gunshot wounds he received as a result of an armed robbery attempt on Sunday. Robinson will be eligible to return to the active roster in Week 5 of the season.

Tua Tagovailoa was named a team captain for the Miami Dolphins. Likewise, Jalen Hurts was named a captain in Philadelphia.

O.J. Howard had a productive visit with the Houston Texans today. Early reports that he was staying in Houston to take a physical tomorrow, while Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Howard will sign with Houston tomorrow.
