Tua Tagovailoa has been named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 2. Tagovailoa threw for 469 yards and 6 touchdowns to help Miami overcome a 21-point 4th quarter deficit to beat Miami 42-38. Tagovailoa was also named FedEx Air NFL Player of the Week.
The Meridian (MS) City Council has voted to name all basketball courts in historic Highland Park in honor of former Alabama basketball star and Meridian native Derrick McKey. McKey played for 15 seasons in the NBA, primarily with the Seattle Super Sonics and the Indiana Pacers.
Tyler Gentry was recognized by Baseball America as the Kansas City Royals organization’s Minor League Player of the Year for 2022.
The Utah Jazz held a joint practice with the Real Salt Lake soccer club today. Collin Sexton said that the unconventional practice was good for the camaraderie and chemistry for a team with a lot of new faces.
